Help · your calculations

How is your chart calculated? astronomy first, words after.

Your chart is calculated, not guessed: from your birth date, time and city, an ephemeris engine works out the planets’ real positions at the moment you were born, just as an astronomer would. Those positions then open the texts that concern you, carried by Jade’s voice: named sources, and the precision of the sky.

The essentials

You need
your date, your time (if you have it) and your birth city
The calculation
an ephemeris engine: the sky’s real positions
The texts
Jade’s voice, named sources
Zodiac
tropical, the one Western astrology uses

The answer, plainly

You give three things: your date, your time if you know it, and your birth city. Nohemia finds the city’s coordinates and the legal time in force back then, converts it all into universal time, then an ephemeris engine calculates the planets’ real positions at that exact instant: signs, degrees, aspects, and the rising sign and houses when the time is known.

Only then do the words come. Each position opens texts signed by Jade, backed by named sources and chosen for your sky: nothing is improvised.

Why you can trust it

An ephemeris calculation is the same kind of calculation astronomers run: where Mars sat one morning in 1991 above Lyon is not an opinion, it is a result. Two serious apps working out your chart will land on the same degrees; what changes from one to the next is the way of telling them.

That is also why we ask for your city rather than coordinates: it is gentler for you, and just as accurate for the calculation, since a few kilometers do not shift your sky in any noticeable way.

The place of your birth time

The time is only essential for the rising sign and the houses, which depend on the Earth’s rotation: the rising sign changes sign roughly every two hours. Without it, your chart is still calculable and already says a great deal, because the planets in signs and the aspects do not move.

If you do not know it, start without: you can add it later from your space, and your chart will fill in at once. We explain where to find it in the fiche on the unknown birth time.

Frequently asked questions

Which zodiac do you use?
The tropical zodiac of Western astrology, the one of the horoscope you know. Chinese astrology, which follows a wholly different logic, lives in its own practice inside the app.
Does the calculated chart foretell my future?
No, and we own that: Nohemia reads the sky as a mirror and as cycles, never as a list of promised events. That editorial stance has its own fiche, if you want to understand why.
