Taurus

Taurus is the second sign of the zodiac, a fixed earth sign ruled by Venus, covering roughly 20 April to 20 May. In Western astrology it is tied to stability, patience and the pleasure of the senses. Having the Sun in Taurus describes a person drawn to security, constancy and the concrete, who builds slowly and keeps what has been built.

The Taurus temperament

If you are a Taurus, you move at your own pace, in no hurry: you like what lasts, what you can touch, what reassures. Your fixed earth makes you solid, loyal, rooted in the real. Your strength is quiet persistence; your lesson is learning to let go when it is time to move rather than holding on.

Its place in the zodiac

Second of the twelve signs, Taurus settles into the spring that Aries opened. An earth sign, it shares that grounding with Virgo and Capricorn; a fixed sign, it steadies the season. Across from it, Scorpio questions its attachment to what it owns through the urge to transform everything.
