Fixed signs
The fixed signs are one of the three modalities of Western astrology, alongside the cardinal and mutable signs. They are Taurus, Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius. Their role is to stabilize: they hold and sustain what the cardinal signs began, at the heart of each season. Tradition links them to perseverance, loyalty and the strength to keep a steady course over time.
What they stabilize
If you have planets in fixed signs, you know how to hold: you deepen, you consolidate, you stay when others let go. This energy gives you steadiness and a real capacity for commitment. It only gains from letting yourself change your mind now and then, so that solidity does not turn into rigidity.
Against cardinal and mutable
Cardinal signs open, fixed ones hold, and mutable ones adapt and close: a full cycle. Where the fixed sign shines at lasting, it sometimes resists change far too much. That is why the three modalities complete one another, each taking over the work where the other one starts to tire.
