Moon journal · Waxing Gibbous
Journaling at the waxing gibbous.

Between the first quarter and the full moon, the Moon swells evening after evening, rounded, bright, but not yet round. This phase carries a name few people know, the waxing gibbous, and an energy everyone has already felt: the energy of the eve of completion. The hardest part is done, the outcome can be sensed, and yet something is still pulling: impatience, perfectionism, a vague fear that it all collapses at the last minute. This is a phase of refining. In your journal, it invites you to look at what is almost there: the project a few days from its shape, the ripe conversation waiting for its moment, the three-quarters-made decision. Writing here serves to adjust without throwing everything back into question, to tell the detail that still deserves care from the detail that serves as an excuse not to finish. It is also a good moment to name what you have already learned since the new moon, while it is fresh: your journal in the app keeps that trace, and the gibbous page is often the one you reread with the most tenderness.

Finish by writing a sentence that begins with I am closer than I think to, and complete it without overthinking. Read it once, under your breath if you can. The waxing gibbous is the phase of patient confidence: that sentence is your footing all the way to the full moon.
