Obsidian
Obsidian is a natural volcanic glass, most often deep glossy black, formed by the rapid cooling of lava. In lithotherapy, tradition associates it with protection and grounding, and links it to the root chakra. Its smooth, mirror-like surface has been used since ancient times to make tools and mirrors. These correspondences belong to symbolism and culture, not to any verified effect on the body.
A grounding stone
Its dense, almost liquid black evokes the night and the depths. Many keep it as a point of support in moments when they feel scattered, entrusting it with the intention of returning to themselves, feet on the ground. You might rest it in your hand and simply feel its weight recenter you.
In the tradition
Polished into mirrors by ancient peoples, obsidian has long been tied to the idea of looking inward, plainly and without detour. Lithotherapy drew from it a stone of protection and truth, linked to the root chakra, the center associated with safety and being rooted.
