Neptune

Neptune is the planet of dream, imagination and the ideal in Western astrology. A slow, generationally tinged planet, it crosses a sign over some fourteen years; its house in the birth chart marks the area where a person longs for the infinite, draws inspiration, or loses themselves in illusion. It is linked to compassion, spirituality, and art, but also to confusion and escape.

What Neptune dissolves

Where Neptune sits in your chart is where edges go soft: the area where you dream, where you feel connected to something larger, where you give without keeping count. Its house shows the area of life where inspiration can be vast, and where it is just as easy to deceive yourself or to give too much away.

Ideal and confusion

Neptune erases the borders of the self: it is the door to compassion, music, the divine, and also the door to fog and disappointment. Befriending Neptune is not about giving up the dream, it is about learning to tell the longing that lifts you from the one that helps you flee what is real.
