How do I find my Chinese sign from my birth date?
The Chinese zodiac links an animal to each lunar year, in a cycle of twelve: Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Goat, Monkey, Rooster, Dog, Pig. Your sign is the animal of your birth year, as long as the Lunar New Year shift is taken into account.
Why give the full date and not just the year?
Because the Chinese year does not start on 1 January but at the Lunar New Year, between late January and mid-February. A birth in January or early February can therefore belong to the previous year’s animal: the day’s date settles it.
What is the Chinese animal of 2026?
The year 2026 is placed under the sign of the Fire Horse, opened at the Lunar New Year of February 2026. Each year combines an animal with one of the five elements, which colours its tone.
How does it differ from Western astrology?
Western astrology reads the position of the planets on your birth day; Chinese astrology reads the lunar year and its element, then refines with the month, the day and the hour. Two different languages, which complement each other more than they contradict.
