Glossary Lithotherapy

Rose quartz

Rose quartz is a pale pink variety of quartz, sometimes deepening to a stronger rose. In lithotherapy, tradition associates it with tenderness, self-love and gentleness, and links it to the heart chakra. Often milky and translucent, it appears as polished pebbles or rough blocks. These associations are symbolic and cultural, with no proven effect on health or emotions.

A stone of gentleness

Its pink, almost childlike tone makes it the stone people give to express affection. You might keep it for yourself, as a reminder to be a little more tender toward who you are. Many like to hold it in the hand, for the length of a sigh, on a day when they need some softness.

In the tradition

Pink has long symbolized tenderness and the bond of the heart. Lithotherapy naturally made rose quartz the stone of self-love and gentler relationships. It is linked to the heart chakra, the center tradition associates with compassion and openness.
