Sagittarius

Sagittarius is the ninth sign of the zodiac, a mutable fire sign ruled by Jupiter, covering roughly 22 November to 21 December. In Western astrology it is tied to the search for meaning, expansion and a hunger for distant horizons. Having the Sun in Sagittarius describes a person drawn to adventure, freedom and the pursuit of truth, sometimes at the cost of restraint and lasting commitment.

The Sagittarius temperament

If you are a Sagittarius, you need open space and meaning: you aim further, you ask the big questions, you resist anything that feels too narrow. Your mutable fire makes you enthusiastic, frank and always in motion. Your strength is faith in what comes next and a drive to explore; your lesson is keeping your promises and finishing what you begin.

Its place in the zodiac

Ninth of the twelve signs, Sagittarius widens what Scorpio went deep into. A fire sign, it shares that flame with Aries and Leo; a mutable sign, it carries the season through its turn. Across from it, Gemini gathers the near and the immediate while Sagittarius reaches for the whole view: the detail answers the distance.
