Mercury

Mercury is the planet of mind and communication in Western astrology. Its sign and house describe how a person thinks, learns, speaks and exchanges with others, along with their relationship to information and travel. Tradition casts it as the messenger of the gods, tied to the intellect and to commerce; psychological astrology reads it as the cognitive style, the way one links ideas and puts the world into words.

What Mercury lights up

Where Mercury sits in your chart is where your mind switches on: how you ask questions, how you learn, how you tell a story. Its sign colors the pace of your thought, quick and curious in Gemini, steady and concrete in Taurus, and its house shows the ground where you most need to exchange ideas and understand.

In the tradition

Mercury, the winged messenger, had no fixed nature: it took on the color of whatever planets it touched, by turns light or serious. The modern reading keeps that flexibility: your Mercury is neither clever nor limited in itself, it is simply your inner language, the way you translate what you take in.
