Ingress
An ingress is the moment a planet enters a new zodiac sign. The Sun's ingress into Aries, for instance, marks the spring equinox and the start of the astrological year. Every sign change of a planet redistributes the sky's emphases and becomes a subject of reading, whether the slow passages of Saturn or the more frequent entries of the Moon and Mercury.
Crossing a threshold
Think of the ingress as a planet moving from one room to another. The tone shifts: Venus leaving Taurus for Gemini no longer charms in the same way. Slow ingresses, those of the outer planets, mark shifts of mood lasting months or years, often felt like a change of air.
