Asking the tarot a question
A tarot question is the way a query is framed for the cards before a reading. Tradition favors open questions (what is at play in this relationship, how to approach this change) over closed ones that call for a yes or a no. A clear question shapes the whole reading: it sets the frame in which each card will be interpreted and turns the draw into an exploration rather than a binary answer.
Framing your question
Before you shuffle, take a moment to clarify what you are really after. Favor an open question, centered on you and on the present: what is this situation asking of me, what am I unable to see right now. The more honest your question, the more the reading will have to reflect back to you.
When the question is unclear
If you do not know what to ask, that is already information. You can draw a single card on where I stand today and let the image sharpen the question for you. Just be wary of questions that demand a yes or a no: they close the very conversation the tarot is trying to open.
