Waxing moon
The waxing moon refers to the whole half of the cycle running from the new moon to the full moon. Evening after evening, the lit part of the visible disc grows, as the Moon moves away from the Sun in the sky. It covers the first crescent, the first quarter and the waxing gibbous moon. Tradition sees it as a phase of momentum, when you build and gather.
How to follow it
Day after day, the Moon shifts eastward and sets a little later each evening. Its lit surface thickens, from a thin crescent after sunset to a nearly full disc. In the northern hemisphere, the light sits on the right. Watch it over a few evenings in a row and you will clearly see the crescent swell.
What the tradition invites you to do
The light is rising, and many traditions read this movement as support for whatever is being built. It is a time to move forward, feed a project, add and gather rather than cut back. You might line up here the efforts that need momentum. A symbolic reading, to take as an invitation and not as a law.
