Enneagram · the nine types
The nine types, portrait by portrait.
Each Enneagram type is a strategy of the heart: its strength, its blind spot, its wings and its path. Described without the cult tone, and with its limits stated plainly.
- Type 1 Enneagram Type 1 lives with an inner compass that never switches off: a sharp sense of how things should be, and the pull to correct what falls short.
- Type 2 Enneagram Type 2 is recognizable by its relational radar: it senses what others need before they’ve even put it into words, and makes itself available.
- Type 3 Enneagram Type 3 moves like an arrow: one goal, one plan, an image worthy of it.
- Type 4 Enneagram Type 4 lives with an old sense of being different, sometimes exiled: something is missing, and that lack becomes almost an identity.
- Type 5 Enneagram Type 5 watches the world from a slight remove: understand first, take part later.
- Type 6 Enneagram Type 6 is the type of vigilance and commitment: a mind that constantly scans for what could go wrong, and that devotes itself without limit to whatever it has chosen to protect.
- Type 7 Enneagram Type 7 is the type of enthusiasm: a quick mind that multiplies projects, ideas and pleasures to keep life wide open.
- Type 8 Enneagram Type 8 is the type of owned strength: a dense presence that says what it thinks, decides fast and protects on instinct whatever is entrusted to it.
- Type 9 Enneagram Type 9 is the type of peace: a calm presence that feels every point of view from the inside and instinctively smooths over what might jar.
